The RFU is committed to the development of rugby in England, but can only do this with the help of its commercial partners. Rugby is continuing to grow in popularity and in its diversity it has attracted a number of blue chip brands.
The opportunities that rugby provides to commercial partners is proven by the world-renowned brands that have become sponsors of the RFU and highlight the breadth of opportunity available.
These brands include O2, Nike, Investec, Powerade, bmi and Land Rover. The RFU’s sponsorship team is committed to developing traditional benefits and to exploring new ways to provide value to our partners and maximise the benefits from their association with rugby.
This is achieved through a varied portfolio of rights that supports the commercial goals of our partners and encompasses the elite England team through to the grassroots game. The sport offers much diversity through areas such as the women’s game, schools, students and through teams such as England deaf.
The 2008 - 2009 season has seen some highly successful campaigns for our sponsors. O2, in the first year of their renewed partnership with the RFU, continued to support the nationwide player retention campaign Play On, which included the hugely popular O2 Scrum on the Beach events; Powerade launched their Innergear campaign with England players, Paul Sackey and Steve Borthwick; and new partners bmi, uSwitch, Xafinity and Nomura come on board.
