Northumberland County League 3B
Whitley Bay Rockcliff III 10 Blyth III 46
Blyth travelled to Rockcliff for their second County League fixture of the season. Playing into the elements and against a fired up home side, Blyth were under pressure for the first 20 minutes and conceded a try in the left hand corner. Spurred on by this the pack began to take control, gaining a steady supply of good possession for the free running backs to enjoy. Russ Walker finished well to touch down after the forwards had driven the scrum 20 metres. Adam White scored the first of his hat trick after a good run by Karl Rose, Graham Bell converting to end the first half.
The game was still in balance but Blyth stepped up the pace in the second half. Team captain Ian Hudson began the onslaught when he crashed over from close range and Dave Jefferson capped a fine performance with a well taken try. Rockcliff replied with an unconverted try when the centre found a gap in the defence.
As the home side tired Blyth began to dominate possession. The half backs Graham Bell and Dave Little linked well all game and with full back Ken White always a threat on the counter attack, further tries were scored by Adam White (2) Ken White and Russ Walker; Mick Bath and Russ Walker added a try Conversion each,
