Stage 1 Mini U7-8 Laws Guide
Stage 1 : Under 7 and Under 8 : Mini Tag Rugby
The object of the game is to score a try (5 points) by placing the ball on the ground over your opponents' goal line. The game is played by teams of between five and seven players, is non-contact, and uses Velcro tags attached to a belt to simulate the "tackle". No kicking at this level, and no features of the contact game, such as scrums. The game bears a lot of resemblance to rugby league at this level.
A summary of the main laws:
RESTART
Free pass restart at half way line.
SCORING
Try is 5 points.
Ball carrier must remain on feet at all times = no diving tries.

TAG
All players wear a tag belt , with two tags attached by Velcro, one over each hip. Tags must be clearly visible and worn outside shirts.
A "tag" is the removal of one tag from the belt of the ball carrier. The tagger must stop running and shout "tag". The referee will shout "tag - pass". The ball carrier must pass the ball within three seconds. After the ball is passed the player must go to their tagger and retrieve their tag. Both players cannot rejoin the game until the tag is affixed to the belt once more.
The ball carrier can run and dodge opponents, but must not fend off opponents.
