Furness kept pressure up throughout the match and their tackling was very efficient. Hodgson scored a second try after a fierce fight for the try line and Holly Goodfellow put in a great run, which led to a try by Rachel Wedgwood. Hodgson then crossed again for her hat trick.

Clare Condron ran the length of the pitch to score and Hodgson ran a good half of the pitch for her fourth. Hooker, Fiona McKay, won the ball from a ruck and drive and ran down the blindside to increase Cockermouth’s lead and Robyn Cockbain twisted out from a tackle and ran in a try under the posts, converted by McKay.

Furness/Carlisle never gave up the pressure or their commitment and finished the match by picking up a fumbled ball and running in a second try, which they converted. This was a fast and exciting match enjoyed by all.
