Colchester Youth Festivals
Colchester is very fortunate to have a ground with four full size pitches, six minis pitches and two training grids, making it ideal for hosting Rugby Festivals allowing plenty of room for clubs to play, and to warm-up and train between games.
The U14 Festival has been held annually since 1991 and has traditionally attracted teams from all over the United Kingdom, with sides from Blackheath, London Irish, Moseley, Bedford and Saracens taking part. Teams compete for the John Motum Plate, donated to the club by the long serving RFU committee member, who is also a past President of Colchester RFC.
The U15 Festival strated as a 10-a-side event in 1998 and changed to 15-a-side in 2001. It has also seen teams from far and wide taking part, including Llandaff and Abercynon from Wales, Sheffield, and Caldy from the Wirral. The winning team is presented with The Hospital Trophy.
