The Bill Beaumont Cup (County Championship). Devon are once more the top County in England following their 27-6 defeat of Lancashire in the inaugural final of the Bill Beaumont Cup played at Twickenham on May 28th. Three wins in the top tier group matches against Middlesex, Hertfordshire and Gloucestershire saw Chris Lowrie's young side through to their fourth consecutive final. The only blip has been the frustrating 2006 defeat to Lancashire which denied Devon the hat trick so this victory was all the sweeter. CONGRATULATIONS!
Sadly the Devon Under 20 team lost their final to Yorkshire in a hard game which kicked off at 9.30am, in the morning mists at Twickenham on 12th. May. The final score 34-17 flattered Yorkshire a little as the half time score was very close. A quick score right after the restart set the Northern team up well and despite some heroic efforts from the Westcountry players Yorkshire held out and effectivly locked the gate in the last quarter of the match.
