SIX DEVON PLAYERS IN ENGLAND UNDER 16’s DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
The England 16 Group selectors have named a squad of 60 players to attend a development session at Cokethorpe School in Oxfordshire this weekend, February 1-3.
An elite squad of 40 players who trained at the second Divisional Festival at Broadstreet RFC last weekend were all under consideration for selection as were those who took part in the match between a combined North/Midlands team and London & South East/South West on Sunday January 27.
The London & South East/South West Under-16s ran out clear winners over their North/Midlands counterparts, 30-5.
Lloyd Morgan, England 16 Group chairman of selectors, commented: “The squad of 60 players to train together at Cokethorpe School will meet again at Hartpury College on February 19-23, when England will play a practice match against Millfield Under-17s preceded by England A taking on The Rest.
“The England A practice match was to have been against the South West but we have opened it up to give us another chance to look at players we haven’t seen.”
These are the next steps in the England 16 Group’s preparations for the Four Nations Tournament in Lyon from March 17 to 27 when England will take on hosts France, Italy and Wales.
England Under-16s A will participate in the International Festival at Millfield School from March 31 to April 6 alongside Canada, France A, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, USA and Wales A.
The six Devon players selected are:
Sandy Browne, full back (Teignmouth Community College and Devon)
Ryan Mills, fly half (West Exe Technology College and Devon)
Koree Britton, hooker (Kingsbridge Community College and Devon)
Matthew Kvesic, No.8 (Blundell's School and Devon)
Robert Langley, second row (Edington and Shapwick School and Devon)
Addison Lockley, lock (Ivybridge Community College and Devon)
