Inaugural South-West Regional 10s Competition
Saturday 3rd May 2008 at Taunton RFC
The first SW Regional 10s competition took place on Saturday 3rd May, hosted by Taunton RFC. It produced a good showcase of SW U15 talent throughout the course of the day.
In Pool A, Dorset & Wilts and Cornwall both won their opening games (10-0 and 24-14 respectively) and set up a decider which Cornwall won (15-7), marred by the ambulance taking a DW player to hospital with what proved to be a broken collar bone, and the game finishing on a neighbouring pitch.
In Pool B, Devon proved to be the class act scoring 53 points and conceding only 7 in their two games.
In the play-offs
- Somerset proved to be too strong for Gloucestershire (26-5) and finished 5th
- Dorset & Wilts edged out Bristol Schools (12-5) to take the bronze medals
- In the final, Devon continued their form from their pool and ran out winners against Cornwall (24-12) to become the inaugural Regional Champtions
Thanks to Taunton for hosting, the trio of referees (Tim, John and Paddy), the physios (Jo, Kevin, Paul and Tori), the players for the standard of play and on-field discipline (no yellow or red cards all day), the coaches (Dan, Alan, Chris, Gwyn and Jim), our numerous supporters (mexican or otherwise) and Wally Wright, DW Youth Chair for presenting the medals and trophy.
Get well soon to all the injured players, have a relaxing summer and I'll see you all next season.

Match shirts will be provided, please bring your own black shorts and socks.
Black trousers, white shirt and club or school tie for the meal after the game.
Please allow an hour after the match to change, have food, mix with the opposition and have the presentations.
