_______________________________________
Vale taking on a side with a great weight advantage soon imposed their superior
forward play in the shape of the forceful Fish, Rawlinson, and Lewis Horner
aided by Freear, Ashton-Hill and Tidsall who dominated the loose. Fish at
his battering-ram best scored twice to Vale a comfortable win, Swarbrick
seviced Briggs at stand-off well, while a sterling display of tackling from
Crewdson, Tom Jowett, Squirrell and C.Horner kept the Vale line intact.

Vale demolished Fireflies with an outstanding display of combined forward
and back play refected in the backs try contribution of six to the forwards
three, Fish running in his hat trick with Melville also recording three,
Squirrell running in two and Jack Jowett one. The half back combination of
J.Jowett and Luke Irving handling superbly, allowing passage to both wings
Melville and Squirrell via centres Briggs and Crewdson.

Vale despite inferior weight advantage in the forwards once more tore into
the opposition, Fish, Rawlinson and L.Horner along with Summers, Young,
and Tisdall not giving an inch up front gradually ground Preston down and
the player of the day Fish scoring both tries, Briggs converting both. Tackling
from Titterington, Rees and C.Horner holding Preston at bay.
Final.

_____________________________________________
For the fourth time in the last year Vale went down to their nemisis side
Warrington. Thats three finals and one semi-final. Warrington again proved
more fluid, very quick to latch onto the slightest mistake and taking advantage
of some very strange interpretations of the rules by the referee. The Vale
side having played against far heavier sides in Waterloo and Preston Grasshoppers
found Warrington to much for their weary legs.
