Alex Corbisiero

Alex Corbisiero

A first England call on the eve of the Italy match in mid February last year completed a spectacular rise to Test level for Alex Corbisiero, who made a significant contribution to the 59-13 win at Twickenham. He had trained with the squad for two days earlier in the week as an injury replacement for Tim Payne but was then enlisted at loose head prop when Andrew Sheridan withdrew because of a sore back.

Callum Braley

A taste of senior rugby has already whetted the appetite of Callum Braley, who at the age of 17, has played in two British & Irish Cup games for his home city club Bristol against Cornish Pirates and Ayr. He is on a dual registration with Hartpury College, where he is taking A-levels in business studies, psychology and PE.

Michaela Staniford

An unlucky knee injury in training to Richmond’s Claire Allan gave Michaela Staniford, of Wasps, the tantalising opportunity to appear in her second Women’s World Cup in 2010. Not only that. She had become England’s youngest player at the age of 17, back in 2005.

Anthony Watson

Anthony Watson

A maiden try from the left wing in the 29-12 win over Ireland at Donnybrook in December 2010 gave Anthony Watson and England U18 a flying start to last season. He had already played at full back against the Namibia Invitation XV and off the bench against South Africa the previous summer and added to his appearances in the 64-0 win over Italy at Heywood Road, Sale in February 2011.
