The RFU provides a strategy and pathway to recruit, train, deploy and recognise young rugby leaders within school leadership programmes.  It is aligned to courses and volunteering programmes such as Sports Leaders UK.

The rugby union leadership programme will help schools achieve enrichment of individuals and engage students who may be less academically focused but show good common-sense, commitment and communication qualities.

The RFU Youth Leadership and Volunteering Strategy encompasses a focused and recognized volunteering and leadership framework for young people in our sport.  This brings together all the RFU offers in one place, under the umbrella of vRugby.

Through the framework of Recruit-Train-Deploy-Recognise, it will be ensured that young people and those supporting them have a clear understanding of how they can develop within the volunteering and leadership aspects of the game.  The national structure compliments local school programmes and presents a clear picture of expectations and opportunities for all those involved.

Leadership Pathway

Young people will have the chance to get involved at varying levels from local events to national and in some cases international experiences for those who show commitment and enthusiasm to progress.
