VIDEO - Women's captain expects improvements against NZ

16 November 2009

  • England on a learning curve ahead of next weekend
  • Women’s team “really looking forward” to running out at Twickenham

Defeat to New Zealand last weekend will allow the England Women to put up a stronger challenge against the World Champions when the two teams meet again at Twickenham on November 21.

After losing 3-16 to the Black Ferns, England captain Catherine Spencer said: “We’ve got this knowledge now, we can have a look at this game, have a look at this video. We didn’t know too much about them until now but we’ll be a lot more informed in seven days time.

“We can have a look some of the decisions we made wrong and put that right when we run out at Twickenham.”

The England Women will take part in a unique double header against New Zealand at Twickenham on Saturday November 21, kicking off after the two men’s teams have finished the final game of their Investec Challenge series.

It will be the first time that the England Women have played at Twickenham, and according to Spencer, her England team are full of anticipation ahead of the match.

“Now we can really start looking forward to it and looking forward to the occasion,” said Spencer. “Looking forward to playing at Twickenham and looking forward to playing the world champions again.”

Entry to the game at Twickenham is free after 4.15pm and kick off is at 4.45pm.
