After a sleepless flight to Dubai I’m still awake at 8.00pm and haven’t slept for 36 hours so I’m struggling to keep my eyes open. I think the reason I didn’t sleep during the flight was because I got into the movies, I watched G.I. Joe for Sienna Miller, Transformers 2 for Megan Fox and I even squeezed in a tearjerker – The Time Traveller’s Wife.
We were half expecting hundreds of screaming fans to welcome us to Dubai as we think that Blackheath’s Dan Caprice could be the fifth member of JLS. Not only does he look the part but he can also sing – I'm going to try and get him to sing us a little song on camera.
I made a slight schoolboy error and left my shorts in the team room back in London which is not ideal in the desert so I’m having another supply shipped in over the weekend.
Today was spent recovering from the flight and BG (Ben Gollings) held a spinning session when we first arrived to get the flight out of our systems, we then had a good lunch back at the hotel and headed to the beach, minus my shorts! We spent a couple of hours there before heading back to base.
This evening we went to a Turkish BBQ – I've never eaten so much meat in all my life, it was awesome. The boys got stuck in and now we are full and we will be on salad for the rest of the week. I even tried turkey heart, which tasted like turkey and liver. Actually quite nice.
I’m sharing my room with Kev Barrett from Saracens. We shared all last season so it’s nice to be back together. We are like an old married couple and I’ve missed him!
I’m off for a nice mug of green tea before bed. The serious training work starts this weekend to make sure we’re in perfect shape when the first leg of the IRB Sevens World Series kicks off next Friday.
See you soon,
Crackers
