- England Women seeking revenge against Wales
- 6 Nations tournament will play an important part in World Cup preparations
England Women captain Catherine Spencer says that her England team will be looking for revenge against Wales as they begin their 6 Nations campaign on Saturday.
England Women take on Wales at Esher rugby club in Surrey (KO 7pm) after losing the same fixture by one point last year.
Speaking to RFU.com, Spencer said: “We can’t wait to get into the tournament and we especially can’t wait for the game against Wales. It was pretty gut wrenching last year to lose to them, so what better way to kick start the tournament and get our chance to wreak some revenge.”
England Women are looking for a fourth consecutive 6 Nations title, and with the Womens Rugby World Cup in London just six months away this year’s tournament has taken on extra significance.
“It’s a massive year leading up to the World Cup and this is a major tournament leading up to the World Cup,” continued Spencer. “Coaches will be wanting to look at combinations and we’ll all want to be putting our hands up for selection.”
