- England men and women to hold open training session on Wednesday, August 11
- Training at the home of England Rugby will be a real boost – Cath Spencer
Rugby fans can watch England captain Cath Spencer and her teammates train for free from 1.15pm on Wednesday, August 11 at the annual summer open training day at Twickenham Stadium.
With the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup fast approcahing, the opportunity to train on the hallowed turf is an exciting one for Spencer, who said:
"We had the privilege of playing at Twickenham last year and to be able to train there in front of England supporters will be fantastic, especially just days before the world cup.
"We are all currently training extremely hard as we move closer to our first game on August 20 against Ireland, so to train at the home of England Rugby will be a real boost for us.
"It also gives some budding internationals out there a great chance to see us in action and pick up some of their own training tips."
England are hosting the WRWC this August and September with the pool games being staged at the multi million pound Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, and the semi finals and final at The Stoop, the home of Aviva Premiership side Harlequins.
England, who are the reigning RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam champions, are ranked second for the world cup, but most recently defeated world champions, New Zealand, at Twickenham in November.
For WRWC 2010 tickets visit Ticketmaster or telephone: 0844 844 2010. Fans can opt to buy full tournament passes or individual match day tickets starting at just £10. Rugby fans who buy tickets for WRWC 2010 will also be put on a priority ticketing information list for the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.
The England’s men’s training session will start at 2.30pm and Team Manager Martin Johnson is equally positive about the event, saying: "It’s a great opportunity for the players, coaches and management to meet the people who follow us every season and we hope to see another big turn out."
