- Johnson attends Women's World Cup training camp
- England Team Manager and World Cup winner passes on his experiences
England Team Manager Martin Johnson has visited the England Women's squad at their Surrey Sports Park base to show his support for their upcoming world cup campaign.
Johnson watched the 26-strong squad in training and addressed the players when he visited the site for the pools stages of the Women's Rugby World Cup (WRWC), which kicks-off on Friday, August 20.
Gary Street's side will face the USA, Kazakhstan and Ireland in the initial pool stage, with their first match against RBS 6 Nations rivals Ireland on the opening day.
England Women hope to emulate Johnson's Rugby World Cup winning exploits and the captain from that 2003 triumph is impressed with what he saw from the squad.
"I’m really impressed with what I have seen," Johnson said.
"The players look in great shape and are clearly raring to go.
"As a former player, a team manager and someone who has experienced a world cup before, I know what the squad are going through and what is still to come for them.
"There will be some very challenging times ahead but I am sure this squad will be the best prepared they can be to contest the world cup. I know that I and the rest of the England men’s squad will be eagerly following their progress throughout the tournament."
