In only his second full England appearance, Leicester Tigers prop Dan Cole scored his first England against Ireland in last week’s RBS 6 Nations match, but would have happily traded it in for victory.

The 22-year-old touched down to put England in front at Twickenham before a late try by wing Tommy Bowe snatched victory for Ireland. Cole’s try made him the first front row player to score for England since Phil Vickery touched down against South Africa in 2006.

And Cole told the RFU Podcast: "It's nice to score but it would have been better to win. I would have sacrificed that try for a victory. We have opportunities to win the game and got ourselves in a position to win it but we didn't take them. We have to learn from this and take the positives into Scotland."
