- Saints pair Ashton and Foden in for Monye and Armitage
- Flood and Tindall to start as England make six changes
Northampton Saints wing Chris Ashton will make his debut for England at the Stade de France in the final round of the RBS 6 Nations against France on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old from Wigan - the leading try-scorer in the Guinness Premiership this season – takes over from Ugo Monye (Harlequins).
Ashton has scored 12 tries in his 14 Premiership appearances and when elevated to the England Elite Player Squad in January was also the joint leading scorer with Tommy Bowe in the Heineken Cup.
England team manager Martin Johnson makes six changes in all to the side held to a 15-15 draw by Scotland last weekend.
Ben Foden, Ashton’s teammate at Franklin’s Gardens, makes his first start at full back; Toby Flood (Leicester Tigers) takes over from Jonny Wilkinson (Toulon) at fly half; and Mike Tindall (Gloucester Rugby) returns in place of Mathew Tait (Sale Sharks) to win his 61st cap.
There are two changes in the forwards with Simon Shaw (London Wasps) fit to take over from Louis Deacon (Leicester Tigers) in the second row and Lewis Moody (Leicester Tigers) returning in the back row with Joe Worsley (London Wasps) moving to blind side with James Haskell (Stade Francais) on the bench.
