England Captain Steve Borthwick (Saracens) has had a further scan on his left knee this afternoon. The results of the scan will be reviewed and assessed by the England medical team and a final decision on his availability to play against France in the RBS 6 Nations will be made prior to the team’s departure to France tomorrow. Stade Francais second row Tom Palmer is remaining with the squad.

Steve Borthwick captained England for the 21st time against Scotland in the penultimate match of the 2010 RBS 6 Nations Championship at Murrayfield.

He guided England to second place in last season’s RBS 6 Nations Championship, having taken over as full-time captain from Phil Vickery for the Investec Challenge Series two years ago.
