Former England Head Coach Brian Ashton will be involved in three Rugby Teacher Development Days in the Midlands in the coming weeks.

Ashton, now technical Director of National One newcomers Fylde, will be appearing at Bishop Vesey’s School in Sutton Coldfield on June 14, Bedford Modern School on June 24 and Uppingham School in Rutland on July 1.

The Rugby Teacher Development Days are open to all teachers actively involved in rugby union and Ashton’s sessions will concentrate on the individual skills and unit understanding needed to create turnover ball and how a team can maximise the opportunity that winning turnover ball presents.

Ashton will be accompanied by Matt Ferguson, National Scrum Factory lead coach, who will run sessions on developing safe and effective scrummagers.

The cost of the Rugby Teacher Development Days is £60 per teacher. The session at Bishop Vesey’s School is open to all. Further information and application details can be obtained from midlandscoaching@therfu.com.

England's 2007 Rugby World Cup coach will also lead a senior coach evening at Stourbridge’s Stourton Park ground on June 16.

Ashton, who famously led England to the final, will talk to coaches about his experience of working with players at a high level and answer questions about coaching.

The session is aimed primarily at coaches working at performance level, particularly in representative rugby.

The cost of the session, which will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, is £5. Further information can be obtained from Sarah Blackburn at sarahblackburn@rfu.com.
