“We’re delighted to get the win. We put ourselves in a position in the first 20 minutes when we felt we started well, but had a mad few minutes and we came in down at half time. The most pleasing thing was there was no sense of panic and we knew there were some things we had to work on – get the ball into 10’s hands early and get some more tempo and intensity in the game. We were pleased we managed to achieve that in the second half and we were delighted with the impact that the substitutions made. Italy played well and put us under huge pressure. Pleased to get the win and looking forward to going to Twickenham in two weeks time.”

“The contest at the scrum was everything we expected and we got some good penalties and good possession from the scrum. I think overall our set piece and our breakdown we’ve got lots to work on. We came out of the day with a good result but we’ve got a lot of work to do.”

“Coming here was about backing up last week’s win. From that point of view we’re very happy with where we are. After half time we reacted well and kept our composure, it would have been easy for us to start chasing the game and open up, but everyone really dug in today and I think the subs were superb when they came on as well. The final 40 minutes was a step up. To go in at half time a couple of points down was hard to take but we had some words at half time, a couple of people spoke and we came out and kept are composure and kept the ball for large parts of the game. We’ve had some fantastic fans following us and singing Swing Low and keeping us going but it’s going to be great to get back to HQ and play in front of hopefully a sell-out crowd.”

“We needed to get back into the game somehow, at the same time the lads showed great resolve from going down. I think it gave everybody a bit of a lift. You look at opposition players and analyse them but for me it was about putting as much pressure on as possible and hoping he would take his time and he did. Owen was fantastic with the boot again and kept us in the game”
