Profile

Advancing into the England Saxons’ squad is a logical progression for Stourbridge-born George Robson, who captained England Under 16 and also appeared for the Under 18s. Educated at Bromsgrove School, he began his playing days at Old Swinford Hospital School, Stourbridge in a career that has included a month at Natal Sharks Academy in Durban during the summer of 2005.

That year marked his debut for Harlequins in the A League but his senior competitive debut against Coventry on February 18, 2006 was not long delayed. He played off the bench in a 52-12 victory at Twickenham Stoop in the second of 84 appearances that George had accumulated by late January this year. The first, three months earlier, yielded a try in Harlequins’ friendly match against a Samoa XV.

His Premiership experience going into February 2012 spans 74 matches, eight of them last season during which helped Harlequins beat Stade Français 19-18 in Amlin Challenge Cup final at the City of Cardiff Stadium. George had also played throughout the final pool match in January that produced a 39-17 win overBayonne at Twickenham Stoop. It was his thirteenth game of a season in which hejoined clubmates Joe Marler, Ugo Monye and Chris Robshaw in the Saxons squad.

George was called into the party on January 24 2011 for two matches. He played off the bench in a 45-17 win over Italy A at Worcester and was an unused replacement against Ireland Wolfhounds in Belfast.
