Profile

A newcomer to the squad for 2011/2012, Geraldine Thomas has 16 years of rugby experience at the tender age of 20. Her first mini rugby session was at Sudbury Court where her father played and she has since appeared for four clubs, including Wasps, who she rejoined this season after spending an initial spell there from 2000-03.

Geri’s playing experience also spanned Fullerians (2003-06) and Welwyn (2006-09) before she helped Old Albanians to win promotion to the Premiership at the end of last season. Her representative honours feature eight appearances for England U20s, including the recent Nations Cup in California. Harrow-born Geri also travelled to France with the squad last season.

She said: “My most memorable match was this season’s Nations Cup final when we beat the United States for the second time in the tournament. I used to play at centre at junior level before switching to flanker. Last season when I was chosen for the U20s squad, I moved to hooker.”

Geri is employed as a patient services advisor at Clementine Churchill Hospital at Harrow-on-the Hill, having been educated at Hatch End High School and Sixth Form and West Herts College in Watford.

She obtained an AS level in Physical Education and went to gain a triple distinction BTEC National Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science. Her favourite ground is Twickenham.
