Dual international honours are among the distinctions of Heather Fisher, who represented Great Britain in bobsleigh from 2006-08, competing in junior championships, the British Championship and on the European circuit. Most recently, she made a surprise return to bobsleigh in November 2010 as an injury replacement for GBR1 brakewoman Kelly Denyer in the Britannia Rescue British team to compete in the Americas Cup.
A sports lecturer at Warwickshire College in Henley-in-Arden, she rates playing in the Amsterdam Sevens against New Zealand as her abiding memory in the game. Other representative honours span England Academy from 2001-03, the A team between 2003 and 2006 and Sevens in 2008-09 with 19 Test caps bolted on to her other achievements that include two tries against Italy at Esher in February last year.
She missed the chance of selection for the 2010 WRWC final against New Zealand because of a hand injury but showed outstanding form in the RBS 6 Nations, her irresistible performance producing two tries in the 89-0 win over Scotland in mid March last year, together with the Player of the Match award.
A final educational move to University of Wales Institute, Cardiff brought a BSc (Hons) in Sport & Physical Education. She has also played for Lichfield, spent four years with Clifton and another two with Wasps before joining Worcester in 2009-10.
Heather is a past winner of the England Sevens Coaches’ Player of the Year award and is the current England Players’ Player of the Year. During her travels with the Sevens squad she appeared at San Diego which has become her favourite ground.
