Physical demands of rugby
As discussed in the fitness attributes section of this website, rugby places a range of physical demands on players, whatever position they take on the field. Passages of intense aerobic or anaerobic work and high power output are interspersed with periods of rest and low aerobic intensity.
Using sports science research papers and RWC 2007 as a case study, this section of the website looks at the specific physical demands placed on players during elite rugby matches. The fitness attributes and training sections then look how a player can be best prepared to meet these demands.
