Our Collection Policy

Aim

  • To acquire the most comprehensive and all-encompassing collection of rugby football related memorabilia/objects possible
  • To cover within the collection: all rugby-playing countries, all periods, all levels, both genders and famous players/teams through a wide variety of artefacts
  • To prioritise a single representation/copy of any object, judged according to its value to the core areas covered in the collection

This will be achieved through acceptance of donations, purchase, bequest, long and short-term loans, as well as proactive collecting, including recording of oral history and targeted collecting (mainly through auctions and sales).

Priorities

  • Famous players’ memorabilia/objects (from any nation)
  • Supporter memorabilia/objects
  • Early development of the game, artefacts of historical importance
  • Artwork with a rugby theme or relevance to rugby history
  • Miscellaneous objects highlighting humour and the social aspects of the rugby lifestyle
  • A library of rugby match programmes
  • Archival items focusing specifically on the RFU, England and Twickenham Stadium
