With the Rugby World Cup edging ever closer, now couldn’t be a better time to join the Rugby Football Union and help secure the sport’s legacy in the lead up to and beyond 2015.

We are currently seeking a Head of Game Development, who will provide strong leadership in translating into action the RFU’s work to drive and develop coaching, match officiating and player safety at all levels below the Championship.

With overall responsibility for improving the quality and quantity of coaches, match officials and medics available to support players, the post holder will maximise existing opportunities and develop innovative solutions to address identified challenges. With a particular focus on clubs’ “on-field” environment, the Head of Game Development will be responsible for supporting the interpretation of laws, ensuring high-quality advice and guidance is available to clubs and Constituent Bodies, and for building strong and credible relationships with external organisations such as Sports Coach UK and Skills Active.

They will also be required to develop and sustain strong working relationships with staff in the Professional Rugby and International Player Development departments, and, as a member of the Rugby Development leadership team, will work collaboratively with other Senior Managers to ensure strategic targets are met.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate solid experience of implementing strategies on a national scale and proven ability of managing delivery of training to coaches/referees. Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence at all levels are essential.
