Following a restructure within the Rugby Development team, we now have a full time permanent vacancy for a Rugby Growth Marketing Manager within the Rugby Growth department. The Rugby Growth Marketing Manager will manage the strategic planning and delivery of various RFU strategies to promote growth in rugby. Specific focus will be on leading the development and delivery of an overarching strategy to promote the women’s game and to grow rugby in areas of the country where rugby is no longer or not traditionally played.
Supporting the Head of Rugby Growth, the role holder will be responsible for strategy development, insight led marketing and communications delivery, and evaluation and assessment modelling to measure ROI. The role undertaken will also focus strongly on using consumer driven research to develop plans to meet changing customer needs, working closely with the RFU marketing and communications teams to develop on brand campaigns to attract new players to the game.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading the development of new strategies concentrated on increasing participation in rugby, focused on but not limited to the development of women’s rugby, and activity to promote rugby inclusion.
Assisting the development of operational plans to support approved strategies in conjunction with other managers within the team.
Development and project management of innovative marcomms campaigns to support approved growth strategies:
- Identification/location/understanding of target audiences
- Development of targeted campaigns to attract key audiences
- Working with the RFU marketing team to develop appropriate campaigns for the RFU brand
- Working with the RFU communications team to develop appropriate PR activity
Liaising with a cross departmental group of stakeholders to ensure alignment to core RFU business objectives.
Leading the use of research and demographic data to support participation and the development and implementation of operational plans for growth activity.
Line managing a Rugby Growth Coordinator in establishing a framework for measuring and evaluating impact throughout the Development department.
Financial planning/business modelling to assist the development of a four-year business plan for all key growth activity.
Supporting the Head of Rugby Growth in identifying potential funding streams to support the programmes.
To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate a track record in brand marketing and developing successful consumer focused marcomms activity to drive commercial targets or encourage particpation in activity. You will also have excellent project management skills to lead projects from creation through to evaluating impact, and experience of operating in a leadership role with an ability to articulate an overall function strategy to others and translate into working practices.
The successful applicant will be educated to degree standard and have significant experience in a customer facing marcomms role. A sports branding/marketing background would be advantageous.
You will be highly self-motivated and able to work under your own direction to achieve stated objectives within the necessary timescales and demonstrate a determination to follow through tasks or projects to completion. You must also demonstrate an innovative approach to work, strong organisational skills, high attention to detail and an ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
