Job Description

The Digital Media Editorial Assistant is responsible for supporting the content management and content delivery processes for online media.

The Digital Media Editorial Assistant will work to improve the quality and consistency of RFU web sites and other online communication through content development and delivery.

The role also requires a degree of ad hoc content management and task co-ordination.

This is a a short term contract role to help support the digital team during the Rugby World Cup


  • Editing and development of RFU digital media content
  • Aiding the delivery of content aspects of digital media projects to time, cost and quality benchmarks, with particular emphasis on coordination of inputs from RFU content authors and owners
  • Production of appropriate documentation to support web content management including staff training materials and plans
  • Aid in the delivery of content aspects of digital media projects as required
  • Other work as required to ensure the effectiveness of the RFU’s small digital media team


The job holder is accountable for:

  • Delivery of web and other online content to prescribed quality standards, within agreed timeframes and budgets

  • Candidates should be educated to degree level standard or above in a relevant discipline
  • NCTJ qualified

Required experience

  • Experienced in web content management and content development (sitecore experience preferable)
  • Will have excellent writing and editing skills and demonstrated experience of successfully applying these in an online environment
  • Understanding of the major web technologies and trends


  • Personal circumstances must allow the candidate to work extended hours on occasion during times of peak activity
  • Must live within commuting distance of Twickenham
  • Will preferably already have an interest in sport including rugby union and an awareness of the structure and operation of the game in England
