Job Description

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) will host Rugby World Cup 2015 in England and has established ‘England Rugby 2015 Limited’ (ER 2015) as a wholly owned subsidiary company with its own Board of Directors to act as the organising entity for the tournament. The company is led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with the overall aim of delivering the ‘best ever’ Rugby World Cup.

ER 2015 is looking for a Head of Tournament Services who will be responsible for the development and delivery of all Tournament Service areas such as freight and logistics, travel and transport, accommodation and accreditation to key client groups in the lead up to and during the Rugby World Cup.

The Head of Tournament Services will report to the Rugby World Cup Operations Director, working closely with the other operational areas to ensure a cohesive and integrated plan is established that will meet the needs of all client groups, the primary measure of success being the quality of experience that these groups have during the tournament.

The role is highly operational in nature and during the tournament many of the accountabilities will be delivered through volunteers and contractor organisations. The role also has a number of interfaces with external organisations and commercial partners and successful relationships with these organisations are critical for successful delivery.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully developing and delivering tournament services in a high profile sports environment. You will be an excellent communicator and have the credibility and strong relationship building skills to command respect at all levels, with both internal and external stakeholders.

You will have previous experience in building teams, leading on the development and implementation of project plans and delivering multiple functional areas of responsibility. You would ideally have proven experience in delivering large-scale sporting events across multiple venues

The role will commence in early 2013 and will last until at least November 2015.
