Start Date

Job Description

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) will host Rugby World Cup 2015 in England and has established ‘England Rugby 2015 Limited’ (ER 2015) as a wholly owned subsidiary company with its own Board of Directors to act as the organising entity for the tournament. The company is led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with the overall aim of delivering the ‘best ever’ Rugby World Cup.

ER 2015 is looking for a Head of Venue Operations to be responsible for the planning and delivery of the official match venues, training bases and non-competition venues in the lead up to and during the Rugby World Cup.

The Head of Venue Operations will report to the Rugby World Cup Operations Director, working closely with the other operational areas to ensure a cohesive and integrated plan is established that will meet the needs of all client groups, the primary measure of success being the quality of the delivery of the venues during the tournament.

The role is highly operational in nature and during the tournament many of the accountabilities will be delivered through contractor organisations. The role also has a number of interfaces with external organisations and commercial partners and successful relationships with these organisations are critical for successful delivery.

You will be an excellent communicator and negotiator with previous experience of implementation of venue strategy and managing multiple work streams. You would ideally have proven experience in delivering large-scale sporting events across multiple venues.

The role will commence in early 2013 and will last until at least November 2015.
