Professional Referee Administrator (eight-month maternity cover)

Job Description

The Rugby Football Union is looking for a Professional Referee Administrator to provide the highest quality administrative and operational support for the Professional Referee Unit and the staff within.

Key responsibilities will include:  

To liaise with all the direct reports of the Head of Professional Referee Development, planning and coordinating meetings, systems etc.

Manage and arrange all travel and accommodation needs for all members of the Professional Referee Unit, and incoming visiting professional match officials at England home internationals, being aware of budget requirements at all times.

Responsible for the stock control, management and distribution of all professional match officials' playing equipment. This includes liaison with key sponsors and stakeholders.

To review the expenses of the full-time staff of the Professional Referee Unit and match officials on a monthly basis ensuring coding is correct and deal with any Accounts Department queries.

As directed by the Head of Professional Referee Development, facilitate all match day requirements for all professional match officials at Twickenham Stadium.

Work closely with the International Sevens Referee Manager to provide administration support for the IRB London Sevens World Series event, including incoming travel for all international match officials, negotiations with tournament hotel and liaison with all relevant internal RFU departments.

Ensure individual match official files on the Elite Hub are kept up to date by coaches and match reports are being regularly uploaded for domestic, European and international matches.

Manage the professional match officials’ appointments database on RugbyFirst to ensure all key stakeholders are aware of the necessary information.

Act as an ambassador for, and promote the best interests of, the RFU at all times, including the promotion of our Core Values.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Excellent computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience of databases
  • Contract/cost negotiation experience
  • Budget management and understanding of budget codes and cost centre management
  • A basic understanding of rugby union competitions would be beneficial
  • Good at building relationships with all key stakeholders
