Divisional Strength and Conditioning Coach (Internship)#

Based: Midlands Division

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is seeking to appoint a Strength and Conditioning (S & C) Intern for their U15, U18 and Senior women and girls squads across the Midlands Division for the remainder of 2012/13 Divisional programme.

The Divisional rugby programme is a key stage of the RFU’s player pathway. This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious and forward thinking individuals to develop their experiences and knowledge by working with talented young athletes and will play an important role in developing these athletes.

The S & C intern will work closely with the Divisional Talent Development Officer (DTDO) and be a part of a multidisciplinary team within each Division. The S&C coaches will provide support and education to the Divisional squads and individual players during training and competition.

Under the guidance of the S&C Programme Officer, the S&C coaches will plan and deliver S&C education and pitch based sessions as well as conduct fitness testing with all players on agreed dates in line with RFU protocols.

A sound understanding and knowledge of rugby union and the functional and physical demands of the sport is required along with experience of delivering gym and field based S&C programmes. Also required is evidence of either having or working towards UKSCA accreditation.

Successful applicants will demonstrate excellent organisation and communication skills as well as being able to work well within a team, as S&C coaches will be required to plan and organise various sessions and must be able to liaise effectively with relevant staff and the DTDO.

The S&C Coach will be required to work on weekends and access to own transport is essential.  And they must live within the Midlands Area.
