North Divisional Strength and Conditioning Coach (Internship)

Job Description

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is seeking to appoint a Strength and Conditioning (S&C) intern for their U15, U18 and Senior women and girls squads across the North Division.

The Divisional rugby programme is a key stage of the RFU’s player pathway. This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious and forward-thinking individuals to develop their experiences and knowledge by working with talented young athletes and will play an important role in developing these athletes.

The S&C intern will work closely with the Divisional Talent Development Officer (DTDO) and be a part of a multidisciplinary team within each Division. The S&C coaches will provide support and education to the Divisional squads and individual players during training and competition.

Under the guidance of the S&C Programme Officer, the S&C coaches will plan and deliver S&C education and pitch-based sessions as well as conduct fitness testing with all players on agreed dates in line with RFU protocols.

A sound understanding and knowledge of rugby union and the functional and physical demands of the sport is required along with experience of delivering gym- and field-based S&C programmes. Also required is evidence of either having or working towards UKSCA accreditation.

Successful applicants will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills as well as being able to work well within a team, as S&C coaches will be required to plan and organise various sessions and must be able to liaise effectively with relevant staff and the DTDO.

The S&C Coach will be required to work on weekends and access to own transport is essential. They must also live within the North area.
