Bath Rugby Academy Backs Coach (contract)

Coaching the Bath Rugby Academy squad, overseeing the personal and athletic development of identified Academy athletes, while preparing them for a professional club playing career and developing them to challenge for places within England representative sides, you will work closely with the Academy's academic partners, Constituent Bodies (CBs) and their clubs.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • RFU/IRB Level 3 qualified coach
  • A well-developed specialism in backline play
  • Proven experience of delivering coaching to junior athletes, managing and assisting their technical, tactical and mental development
  • Experience of working to a rugby syllabus and designing appropriate programmes for skill development and game understanding
  • Experience of identifying young talent and potential elite athletes
  • Proven builder of relationships across a wide spectrum of stakeholders
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal, and competent information technology skills for the purpose of presentations

MAIN DUTIES:

Academy roles:

  • Assist in the establishment of structures and feeder systems that identify playing talent within existing club, school and CB development squads, Developing Player Programme, and by direct referral
  • Further develop an excellent Elite Player Development Group (EPDG) system that provides the required coaching, strength and conditioning, medical, educational interventions to support the development of young players with potential to be elite performers
  • Forge clear and positive relationships with teachers of rugby, coaches and development staff within feeder colleges, schools, clubs and CBs
  • Delivering coach education sessions to key partners – County, schools, clubs and DPP coaches
  • Design, manage, implement and monitor Individual Development Plans, alongside the Academy Director, for selected Bath Academy players in conjunction with their support network
  • Backs Coach for Bath U18 Academy side including pre-match preparation, player goal setting and player feedback processes
  • Monitor, provide feedback for Academy players within the Senior programme
  • Deliver outreach sessions for allocated EAP players within the junior Academy

Senior roles:

Support the Bath Senior Coaches with coaching or other technical support (individual positional skill development) within the Bath Senior squad as required.
