Wetherby RUFC Player Coach/Assistant Coach

Salary:

Start Date

Job Description

Wetherby RUFC are a progressive and ambitious club who narrowly missed promotion this season, finishing third in the league. Currently in Yorkshire 4, we plan to achieve promotion in the forthcoming season and are looking for a skilled and ambitious player coach/assistant coach to assist the 1st XV Head Coach to achieve this goal. The club fields two senior men’s teams on a Saturday and we are hoping to increase this to three in the coming season.

The successful candidate will ideally be qualified to Level 2 standard, although this opportunity is open to coaches who are prepared to undertake the level 2 qualification within six months of taking up the post.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Head Coach to conduct training sessions in order to develop the skills of not only the squad but individual players and be able to identify potential talent throughout the club and help them to develop. They must be able to demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for the game and have the ability to motivate players to maximise their potential.

The successful candidate must also be able to commit to the club's training sessions, which are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (7-8.30pm) and the league games that are played on a Saturday.
The successful candidate will have an active role in preseason (July), team selection, squad management issues and will work alongside the 1st and 2nd team selection committees.

We are ideally looking to appoint a coach who also has the ability to play Yorkshire 3 level rugby, to help the team achieve promotion into this league next year. Assistant Coach applications, however, will be considered as we are looking for the right person.

The successful candidate will be reimbursed reasonable expenses, receive branded club clothing and be supported to attain coaching qualifications if required, as well as opportunities to attend appropriate rugby CPD courses.

For further information on the role, please email Mike McHugh-Hicks (Head Coach) on m-hicks1@sky.com or to talk it over, call 07771 907910.

If you wish to apply for the position, please send a CV of coaching and/or playing experience to Mike on the above email address.
