Our commitment to training… and to you
Here at the RFU, we take your development as seriously as you do. We acknowledge that learning and development and personal evolution is paramount to the growth and continued success of the RFU. That's why we make sure you receive the training and support you need to achieve your potential.
Our dedicated Learning and Development function offers an abundance of training resources to help colleagues continue to develop during the course of their career. This will vary according to your particular role and needs, but you'll generally benefit from an integrated programme of formal training activities, administered both in person and online. Development is managed in a structured and yet flexible manner that is geared towards the matching of individual aspirations with the RFU’s needs.
We promote this culture of continuous self development through a range of methods including:
"Kick-Off" Induction programme
We will ensure that when you start work with us you will receive a proper welcome and induction that will make you feel like part of a team, and part of the company, from day one.
During your first week at the RFU, you will receive all the essential information you need to settle into your role as smoothly as possible. You will hear about our rich history, discover what our current priorities and challenges are, learn important IT and Health and Safety rules, and be taken on a tour of the stadium and World Rugby Museum to soak up the history that you are also now part of.
The uLearn Programme
The uLearn Programme offers all employees a wide range of courses from financial management training to interpersonal skills such as assertiveness and team building.
Through conversations with their line manager, each employee can identify a tailored programme that will be beneficial to them, and sign up to any of the various dates. At the end of the programme a key part of the learning opportunity will be the chance to consider what you have learnt and how it can be directly applied to your day-to-day role.
For people that may not always be able to attend courses at our headquarters we have invested in a wide range of interactive e-learning courses which can be used by anyone at anytime. The online courses are interactive and cover more than 32 areas of working life. This allows people to develop their skills at a time that is convenient for them as well as apply their knowledge to their role.
Programmes can also be accessed at our dedicated Learning Resource Centre at Twickenham, available at all times for staff who want to invest in their self-development in a quiet environment away from the hustle and bustle.
We understand that every individual has different learning needs and styles which requires for a tailored approach. Our regular appraisals and personal development reviews allow line managers to work closely with their team to develop personalized learning plans.
Ultimately, we want our people to enjoy their work and feel they have all the skills they need to do their job to the best of their ability.
