RFU Charities
The RFU has established charities which aim to develop community rugby throughout England and protect the welfare of those individuals who play the game.
Rugby Football Foundation
The Rugby Football Foundation (RFF) is a charitable trust established by the Rugby Football Union which aims to promote and develop community rugby in England.
The RFF is responsible for a number of substantial community rugby programmes, such as the provision of rugby development officers, the training and development of referees, and the production of coaching and technical material.
The foundation also administers the Community Rugby Fund, which works to finance capital projects to improve facilities which contribute to the recruitment and retention of community rugby players.
For more information, please visit the Rugby Football Foundation website.
Injured Players Foundation
The RFU Injured Players Foundation (IPF) supports people who sustain a catastrophic injury while playing rugby. The charity provides help and support for both players and their families in the early months after sustaining an injury and during the long term recovery process.
The IPF also incorporates the former SPIRE Rugby Trust charity.
In addition to this support, the charity takes an active approach to conducting and supporting research and education aimed at preventing injuries, while always working to identify how injured players can be helped more effectively.
More information is available on the Injured Players Foundation website.
RFU Fundraising Support
As outlined above, the RFU supports two main charities, The Rugby Football Foundation, which aims to develop community rugby throughout England, and The RFU Injured Players Foundation, which supports people who sustain a catastrophic injury while playing rugby.
Owing to the number of requests we receive, we are unfortunately unable to support the majority of requests for fundraising support. However, in exceptional cases we may be able to support some fundraising events for registered charities.
If you would like to make a request for support, please complete the charity request form (MS Word Doc 40KB) and email it to RFUgiving@therfu.com.
Requests will be considered by the RFU Charity Panel and you should expect a response within six weeks. Please note that we are unable to support events with a shorter timeframe.
