Both these sides want to win this one with games running out and it was Tabard who were convincing winners with Rob Colborne contributing 30 points.
Full back Rob Colborne got the scoring going in the 3rd minute going over for his first try of the day and slotted over the conversion and when he added a penalty in the 15th minute they were 10-0 ahead.
Owen Ashton pulled three points back for the home side but four more tries before the break saw Tabard move into a 36-3 half time lead with centre Paul Gibson bagging a brace.
It took them 18 minutes into the second half before they extended their lead with scrum half Jack Reilly touching down.
Haywards Heath managed a couple of tries in a two minute spell just after the hour mark but Tabard were not finished and scored two more tries late in the match as Colborne completed a hat trick to add to his 15 points with the boot.
Hertford 18 (Tries: Edwards, R Manion. Con: Barella. Pens: Barella 2.)
North Walsham 8 (Try: Godwin. Pen: Wyatt.)
Hertford were home winners over North Walsham in a tight match which was not settled till late on.
Neil Barella gave the home side a 6-0 lead with penalties in the 15th and 19th minutes. Just before the break though North Walsham were over the home line with left wing Chris Godwin scoring an unconverted try as they trailed 6-5 at the break.
In the second half North Walsham went ahead when Jonny Wyatt slotted over a 46th minute penalty goal.
The lead only last three minutes before the home side scored a try through right wing Andrew Edwards and with Barella converting they were 13-8 ahead.
The win was not wrapped up till the 75th minute when fly half Richard Manion went over for a try.
Lydney 46 (Tries: Macrea 3, Johnson, Price, Hill. Cons: Westall 5. Pens: Westall 2.)
Dings Crusaders 10 (Tries: Jeffries, Edwards.)
Lydney move into third place after this comfortable home win over Dings Crusaders. .
Winger Andy Macrea completed a hat trick with tries in the 5th, 30th and 54th minutes and goes into fourth place in the try scorers list on 18 tries. It was 20-0 at half time with full back Adam Westall converting both Macrea tries and kicked two penalty goals.
Three tries in the first 14 minutes of the second half saw Lydney move into a commanding 39-0 lead. Dings did manage to score a couple of tries before the home side scored their sixth try late on through fly half Jon Hill and Westall added the conversion to make it 16 points on the day for him as he moves further ahead at the top of the points scorers list.
Old Patesians 21 (Tries: Barker, Daws. Con: Nunn. Pens: Nunn 3.)
Reading 34 (Tries: Laskey, Fisher, Wright, Flynn, Brooks. Cons: Murdoch 3. Pen: Murdoch.)
Excellent away win for Reading over Old Patesians who have shown some good home form of late.
Russell Nunn gave the home side the lead with a 4th minute penalty goal but after this Reading took control with four tries in 17 minutes to go 24-3 ahead. Two of the tries came form the backs with winger Sam Laskey and scrum half Jeremy Flynn touching down and the other two came form the forwards with hooker Paul Fisher and second row Dan Wright crossing the home line. Nunn kicked a second penalty goal on 40 minutes with Reading going in comfortably ahead 24-6.
Two tries in the opening 10 minutes of the second half got Old Pats right back into the match as flankers John Barker and Simon Daws touched down and Nunn added one conversion to make it 24-18.
Full back David Murdoch kicked a penalty for Reading to go two scores ahead again on 56 minutes but three minutes later Nunn replied for the home side before the visitors settled the match in the 78th minute with a try from centre Nick Brooks.
Southend 27 (Tries: Lyons, McMahon, C Green. Cons: B Green 3. Pens: B Green 2.)
Redruth 37 (Tries: Bonds 2, Pascoe, Harper, Goodwin. Cons: Brown 3. Pens: Brown 2.)
Redruth were given a game by Southend but came through with the win out scoring the home side five tries too three.
Ben Green gave the home side the lead early on and Bede Brown cancelled out the lead on 10 minutes with a penalty.
Redruth took the lead in the 21st minute when centre Craig Bonds touched down and Brown converted. Four minutes later they scored a second try with flanker Nathan Pascoe scoring and Brown again converted for 17-3. Southend pulled 10 points back with second row Craig Lyons scoring a try which Green converted and slotted over a penalty goal. But before the break the visitors got another try with hooker Mark Harper going over and Redruth were 25-13 ahead.
No 8 Daniel Goodwin got the fourth Redruth try early in the second half before Southend staged a revival. Tries from hooker Brian McMahon and centre Chris Green were both converted by Ben Green and after 62 minutes it was game on with Redruth 30-27 ahead.
They secured the win when Bonds got a second try in the 69th minute and Brown converted to go 10 points clear which was the way it stayed till the end.
Westcombe Park 36 (Tries: Chitty, Penalty try, Greenaway 2. Cons: Barnett 2. Pens: Barnett 4.)
Havant 35 (Tries: McGovern, Avery, Grunow, Barfoot, Morris. Cons: Claffey 5.)
Game of the day with Westcombe Park coming back after trailing 28-5 after 34 minutes. They came storming back and took a 33-28 lead in the 75th minute only to see Havant take the lead back before a late penalty saw the home side home, just.
Combe took the lead in the 12th minute with a try from No 8 Rupert Chitty but after that Havant took control with four converted tries in nine minutes between the 25th and 34th minutes including a 22nd for the season by winger Cam Avery. Just before the break the home side were awarded a penalty try and Sam Barnett converted to go in 28-12 down.
In the second half two tries by right wing Sam Greenaway got a try double and with Barnett converting both they were back in it at 28-24. Barnett than slotted over a penalty goal on 53 minutes and then gave his side the lead on 63 minutes with another penalty goal and when he kicked a third penalty goal in the 75th minute Combe were 33-28 ahead and looked to have done enough to win. Havant though had other ideas and scored a fifth try in the 77th minute through replacement Grant Morris and with Claffey making it five conversions out of five the visitors were 35-33 ahead.
But Barnett had the final say with a fourth penalty goal in the 79th minute to snatch the win.
Weston super Mare 23 (Tries: Madamombe, Cook 2. Con: Coleman. Pens: Coleman, Williams.)
Barking 46 (Tries: Cadby 2, Nel 2, Bailey, Liebenberg, Williams, Skurr. Cons: Montgomery 3.)
Another win for Barking built on a good first half performance when they established a 29-6 lead. Barking scored five first half tries with flanker Dean Cadby grabbing a double along with hooker Wilhelm Nel.
In the second half both sides scored three tries with Barking wing Lloyd Williams grabbing his 20th try of the season to remain two behind leader Cam Avery. For Weston No 8 David Cook grabbed a late brace of tries. |
