Former National League referee John Hackett will guest speak at the Cornwall Rugby Referees Society’s first meeting of the new season next week in Camborne.
Hackett, who has served five years on the National Panel of Referees officiating in National Division one and who lives in Bude, will be on hand to pass on his invaluable experiences at the Lowenac Hotel on Tuesday August 16. He will talk on pre-season and pre-match mental preparation.
The workshop is for existing members of the Cornwall Rugby Referees Society but also for anyone interested in picking up the whistle for the first time.
The Cornwall Rugby Referees Society is in need of new referees and this is an ideal opportunity to learn from an experienced hand as Cornwall Referee Liaison Officer Al Denham explains: “Refereeing gives retired and injured players the chance to stay involved. Also those that enjoy the game but will never make the first team can get the chance to excel within the sport.
“We are also running a course on August 28 at Bude RFC for anyone interested in taking up refereeing. You will get the chance to learn about the laws of the game and how to apply them.”
For more details on the workshop or taking up refereeing please contact Al Denham on 01326 210880
