NATIONAL TWO
Blackheath v Stourbridge
Eighth placed Blackheath entertain ninth placed Stourbridge needing a win to stay above them in the table. Both were home winners last Saturday in their National Trophy with Blackheath beating Launceston and Stourbridge beating Rosslyn Park.
So far this season they have won one and lost one at the Rectory Field losing last time out to a late drop goal 17-14 against Launceston.
Stourbridge have won twice this season and both were away from home against Halifax and Barking but they were beaten at Launceston.
Stourbridge won at the Rectory Field last season 20-16 but Blackheath were winners at Stourbridge convincingly 37-21.
Prediction: Home win by six points.
Esher v Moseley
Clash of the day as the top two meet at Esher as they entertain leaders Moseley.
Esher have the meanest defence in the division conceding just two tries in their five matches so far this season and with Moseley having the best attack scoring 20 tries it should make for an interesting contest. Esher have yet to concede a try in the second half of a match yet this season.
Moseley are the division top try scorers with three more than Waterloo. They go into the game unbeaten like Esher and probably as slight favourites.
Away form home they have won twice this season at Stourbridge and then an impressive win at third placed Waterloo.
Esher won this fixture last season 22-16 and lost a high scoring match at Moseley 38-30.
Prediction: Away win by seven points.
Harrogate v Halifax
The bottom two clash at Claro Road as Harrogate entertain Halifax in this all Yorkshire affair.
A win for Harrogate could well see them move up a few places in the table with Orrell having a tough match at Redruth and Launceston going to Wharfedale.
Harrogate are the only side not to win yet this season but with the bonus point system they have picked up five points, two for scoring four tries and three for defeats by seven or less.
Halifax go into the game looking for their first win of the season and if then can get it at Claro Road on Saturday they will move off the bottom of the table and relegated Harrogate to bottom spot.
They have picked up a draw this season and two of their defeats have been by narrow margins, three and one points.
Prediction: Home win four points.
Henley Hawks v Barking
Seventh placed Henley Hawks host fifth placed Barking knowing a win could see them rise above them in the league table. Both these two sides went out of the National Trophy last Saturday in matches they were expected to win.
The Hawks have already lost twice at home in the league in three games at Dry Leas this season with Esher and Waterloo leaving with the victory. The win was against Redruth who reversed the result last Saturday in the Cup.
Barking were beaten at Lydney last Saturday in the Cup and have lost their last two leagues games as they look to halt a three match losing run.
On the road they were winners at Harrogate but beaten at Redruth.
Prediction: Away win by seven points.
Redruth v Orrell
Fourth placed Redruth entertain 12th placed Orrell looking to get the win they need to try and stay in touch with the top three.
Redruth go into the game n the back of an excellent away Cup success last Saturday over Henley Hawks and will be looking to make it four out of four at home this season in the league.
Orrell were well beaten at Bradford & Bingley last Saturday in the Powergen National Trophy and will not be looking forward to the long journey down to Cornwall as on the road this season they have been heavily beaten at Esher and Waterloo already.
This will be the first ever league meeting between the two sides.
Prediction: Home win by 12 points.
Waterloo v Manchester
Third placed Waterloo entertain sixth placed Manchester at Blundellsands a week after winning at Grove Lane in the National Trophy.
In the league this season at Blundellsands Waterloo have won one and lost one, they thrashed Orrell 51-0 but last time out were 37-31 losers against league leaders Moseley.
They are the second highest try scorers in the division with 17, 10 more than Manchester have managed. Defensively not much to choose between them with Manchester conceding nine tries and Waterloo eight.
Manchester have won away from home this season winning at Stourbridge having lost on their first road trip of the season at Barking.
Last season Waterloo ran out 24-12 winners in this fixtures but Manchester won the Grove Lane encounter 21-14.
Prediction: Home win by 12 points.
Wharfedale v Launceston
11th placed Wharfedale entertain 10th placed Launceston knowing a win will take them above them in the league table.
Wharfedale have a win over Henley Hawks and a draw against Halifax form their two home league matches this season.
Launceston were knocked out of the National Trophy last Saturday at Blackheath having beaten them in the league the week before which was their first away win of the season having lost in a high scoring match at Barking on the opening day of the season.
Launceston were 25-23 winners at Threshfields last season after Wharfedale had won earlier in the season at Polson Bridge 16-11.
Prediction: Home win by eight points.
