NATIONAL ONE
Bedford Blues v Pertemps Bees
Second placed Bedford Blues entertain 11th Pertemps Bees at Goldington Road knowing any slip up would allow the Cornish Pirates to overtake them in the National One League table.
The Blues are looking to make it five out of five at Goldington Road this season and make it seven wins in a row since their opening day draw at Otley.
The Bees have yet to win on the road this season with a draw and two defeats to date this season, the draw was a 28 all match against Sedgley Park.
The Bees have scored 10 of their 17 tries in the fourth quarter so far this season whilst the Blues have conceded just two tries in the same quarter. .
The Blues were convincing 41-8 winners in this fixture last season and they did the double over the Bees winning 29-18 at Sharmans Cross Road.
Prediction: Home win by 10 points.
Exeter Chiefs v Nottingham
9th placed Exeter Chiefs play host to 8th placed Nottingham knowing a win will take them above them in the table as they try and recover from last weeks record league defeat at Harlequins.
The Chiefs have won two out of three at the County ground this season with the Cornish Pirates leaving with all five points whilst they have wins against London Welsh and the Pertemps Bees. The Chiefs have had a tough time scoring tries this season with just 14 from their seven matches and only Doncaster have scored fewer with 12.
Nottingham after an opening away win at Sedgley Park have lost both their road trips since at Plymouth Albion and the Cornish Pirates. Nottingham have a good record in the first half conceding just four of their 18 tries in the opening 40 minutes and yet to concede at all in the opening 20 minutes.
The Chiefs were 47-17 winners at the County Ground last season and also won at Nottingham 24-17 to do the double over them.
Prediction: Home win by five points.
London Welsh v Doncaster
Basement battle with bottom of the table London Welsh taking on second bottom Doncaster at Old Deer Park looking for the win to take them off the bottom of the table.
The Welsh have managed just the one win at Old Deer Park this season with a victory over the Pertemps Bees whilst both Bedford and Otley have left with victories.
The Welsh have scored 16 tries so far this season but just four have come in the second half, two in each of the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Doncaster have lost all three matches away from home but defeats at Bedford, Quins and Otley are not exactly. They are the lowest try scorers in the division with 12 so far and only one has come in the final quarter the lowest figure in the division.
This will be the first ever league meeting between the two sides.
Prediction: Tough call but home win by six points.
Newbury v Coventry
High flying Newbury entertain 12th placed Coventry at Monk lane looking to get back to winning ways and try and keep in touch with third placed Cornish Pirated who are nine points clear of them.
Newbury are looking to make it four out of five at Monks Lane with only the Cornish Pirates leaving with a victory. Newbury are the third highest try scorers in the division with 26 and 15 of those have come in the first half, the highest figure in the division.
Coventry have made a dreadful start to the season and lost six of their seven matches. On the road they have lost both matches going down at Doncaster and the Pertemps Bees. Their only win was at home to Otley 30-14.
This will be the first ever league meeting between the two sides.
Prediction: Home win by seven points.
Cornish Pirates v Sedgley Park
The 3rd placed Cornish Pirates entertain 11th placed Sedgley Park at Kenwyn Hill looking to maintain their excellent start to the season.
The Pirates are playing just their third home match of the season and have won both of them so far against Nottingham and the Earth Titans. They are the second highest try scorers in the division with 31 and 12 have come in their two home matches.
Park after an opening day win at Coventry have lost three successive road trips. They have conceded more first half tries than any other side in the division with 16, eight in each quarter.
The Pirates were 36-29 winners over Sedgley Park last season in this fixture whilst at Park Lane Sedgley were narrow 28-27 winners.
Prediction: Home win by 12 points.
Plymouth Albion v Otley
7th placed Otley travel to 6th placed Plymouth Albion knowing a win will move them above them in the league table if they can continue their winning run.
Albion have won tow out of three at Brickfields this season with Newbury leaving with the victory in a high scoring match 52-41. Despite being on of the highest try scorers in the division they have managed just one in the opening 20 minutes, the second lowest total in the division.
Otley after a poor start to the season have put together a run of results to climb the table. On the road this season they have one win from three matches a victory at London Welsh to go with defeats at Coventry and Newbury.
They have the second worst record in the division for conceding tries in the final quarter with eight, one less than Exeter Chiefs.
Last season this fixture end all square at 11-11 whilst at Cross Green Otley were 24-17 winners over Albion.
Prediction: Home win by four points.
Earth Titans v NEC Harlequins
Fifth placed Earth Titans entertain the unbeaten league leaders at Clifton Lane on the back of an excellent home win last week over Newbury.
The Titans have won three out of three at home this season and picked up the four try bonus point in two of those matches, missing out in the game against Exeter Chiefs.
Quins have already won four times on the road this season but been given tough games in all four matches. They have not scored as freely away from the Stoop with 14 tries in their four matches away form home compared to 24 in three home matches.
These two sides last met in the Premiership when Quins did the double over the Titans in the 2003/04 they also did the double over them in the only other season they had in the Premiership back in 2000/01.
Prediction: Away win by 12 points.
