Terrace Talk - National Two

Check out our weekend previews and predictions.

NATIONAL TWO

Leaders Esher travel to seventh placed Stourbridge looking to stay top of National Two.

Stourbridge have a great record away from Stourton this season with four wins out of five whilst at home they have suffered three successive defeats against Manchester Waterloo and Moseley.

Esher have the only 100% record in the league with eight straight wins. They have already won four times on the road this season although the wins at Harrogate and Henley Hawks were tight affairs.

PREDICTION: Esher to win by eight points.

Third placed Moseley entertain fifth placed Henley Hawks 13 points ahead of the Dry Leas outfit in the National Two league table.

Moseley have won all four of their home matches this season scoring at least 27 in each of them which they have won comfortably.

The Hawks have improved of late to climb the table with four wins in their last five matches with their only loss in this period a one point home defeat against Barking.  On the road they have won two out of three after losing at Wharfedale earlier in the season with wins at Harrogate and Orrell.

PREDICTION: Moseley by 10 points.

Second placed Waterloo travel down to Gorsebrook to face fourth placed Barking to keep the pressure on leaders Esher with a fifth successive away in the league this season.

Barking have won three out of four at home this season with only Stourbridge leaving with a win, 14-9 in early October.

Waterloo have shown good form away from Blundellsands this season keeping an unbeaten run including a 45-3 win at Stourbridge in their last road trip.

PREDICTION: Waterloo to win by seven points at Gorsebrook.

Sixth placed Redruth travel to eighth placed Launceston in the Cornish derby.

After winning their opening home match of the season the Cornish All Blacks have lost both since then to the top two Waterloo and Esher.

Redruth have a poor record on the road this season but with this being a derby match and very little travel involved they will be hoping to get a valuable away success having lost at Henley, Halifax and Esher to date this season.

PREDICTION: Launceston to win by four points.

Ninth placed Wharfedale travel to 12th placed Blackheath

Blackheath have now lost their last six league matches after making it two out of two early in the season.

At home they have managed just the one win a 30-14 success over Halifax and losing to Launceston and Stourbridge.

Wharfedale have failed to win on the road but after defeats in their first three road trips of the season they managed a 28 all draw last time out at Manchester. .

PREDICTION: Home win by six points.

10th placed Manchester entertain bottom of the table Harrogate who are still searching for that first elusive win of the season.

Manchester are unbeaten at home with two wins and a draw so far this season. The wins were against Launceston and Blackheath whilst last time out at home they were held to a 28 all draw by Wharfedale. Last week they went down to a 41-5 defeat at Esher.

Harrogate  have played just three on the road going down to big defeats at Reading and Moseley although at Orrell they ran them close to pick up a couple of bonus points.

PREDICTION: Manchester to win by nine points.

13th placed Halifax entertain 11th placed Orrell with both sides in need of the points.

Second bottom Halifax after successive wins over Redruth and Halifax were thumped last week at Halifax going down heavily 47-5. Their home win over Redruth followed three successive home defeats although two of them were by very narrow margins.

Orrell have managed three win so far this season but they have all been at Edge Hall Road whilst on the road they have lost all three matches although last time out on the road they ran Redruth close.

PREDICTION: Tough call this one but will go home win by five points.
