Terrace Talk - National Three South

NATIONAL THREE SOUTH

Bracknell v Reading

Bottom of the table entertain third bottom Reading still looking to add to their solitary win this season.

Bracknell need a miracle to avoid finishing bottom never mind escape relegation having lost their last 16 matches since beating Havant in week two of the season.

Reading know this is a must win game for them as they look to close the gap on Dings Crusaders who they trail by seven points in the table.

On the road they have though lost all nine matches picking up two losing bonus points and a four try bonus point.

Reading were 28-12 winners at Holme Park earlier in the season against Bracknell.

PREDICTION: Huge game for Reading so will go away win by six at Bracknell.

Bridgwater & Albion v Rosslyn Park

Fourth placed Rosslyn Park travel to sixth placed Bridgwater & Albion knowing if they lose the home side will move above them in the league table.

Bridgwater & Albion have won four out of seven at home suffering three defeats although two of them were to top three sides North Walsham and Lydney.

They have done well on bonus points and with ten have more four try bonus points than any other side in the division. They have also picked up five losing bonus points from their eight defeats and only Havant have more.

Rosslyn Park are looking for a fifth consecutive victory as they look to try and catch third placed Lydney. They have not been as good on the road with five defeats in their nine matches on the road.

Rosslyn Park were 31-24 when the sides met a few weeks ago although Bridgwater did leave with two bonus points for losing by seven or less and scoring four tries.

PREDICTION:  Albion to beat Park by six points.

Cinderford v Cambridge

Leaders Cambridge travel to 10th placed Cinderford looking to maintain their winning run.

Cinderford are 10 points clear of the relegation zone so need a few more wins over the coming weeks especially as they will have pulled of a major surprise if they take anything out of this match. They have won two of their last three matches but their home form has not been great with just three wins in eight matches whilst picking up five wins on the road.

Cambridge are looking for a ninth consecutive league win since losing at North Walsham back in late November.

On the road they have slipped up twice with Havant being the other side to beat them.

When the sides met earlier in the season Cambridge were convincing home winners running up a huge 61-15 victory.

PREDICTION:  Cambridge to keep on winning with 10 point victory.

Dings Crusaders v Old Patesians

Second bottom Old Patesians travel to 11th placed Dings Crusaders in need of a win to try and keep in touch with the sides above them in the table as they battle against relegation.

Dings are in need of a few wins to pull them clear of the bottom three and a win here could see them move 11 or 12 points ahead of Old Patesians in the table.

At home they have an excellent record with six wins and a draw in their nine matches at Lockleaze.

Old Patesians could do themselves a huge favour by winning at Dings and closing the gap on them to three of four points especially with Reading playing at bottom of the table Bracknell.

On the road OP have only managed to pick up two wins in eight matches, in five of the six defeats they have conceded over 30 points.

Old Patesians won the clash between the two sides earlier in the season in a low scoring match just coming through 13-12.

PREDICTION:  Dings to win by nine points although Old Patesians really do need the win.

Havant v North Walsham

Second placed North Walsham travel to eighth placed Havant looking to maintain their winning run as they wait for leaders Cambridge to slip up.

Havant have lost some form recently with just one win in their last four matches and will be hard pushed to stop a fifth in six with the visit of the Norfolk side.

At Hooks Lane they have an excellent record with seven wins in nine matches and only the West Country pair of Bridgwater & Albion and Cinderford leaving with wins.

North Walsham are looking for a fourth consecutive league win as they look to keep the pressure on the leaders who they now trail by five points in the Three South league table.

On the road North Walsham have not been as dominant as they are at home and have lost four times already, although in three of them they have picked up the losing bonus point which is why they are still just five points behind Cambridge.

North Walsham were high scoring winners when the sides met at Scottow earlier in the season, 44-21.

PREDICTION: Got to go with North Walsham to take the win by six from Havant.

Hertford v Lydney

Third placed Lydney travel to ninth placed Hertford looking to maintain their excellent winning run and five point lead over fourth placed Rosslyn Park.

Hertford will be looking to bounce back from their 12 try hammering at Cambridge last Saturday with a home success over Lydney. At home they have played nine matches and recorded five wins and losing four times.

Lydney are joint top of the Form Guide along with Cambridge with six wins in their last six matches to climb into third place in the table.

On the road they have played eight matches picking up three wins and a draw.

When these two met at Regentsholme earlier in the season Lydney ran out comfortable 43-10 winners.

PREDICTION:  Tough call but will go with Lydney by four points but could go either way.

Westcombe Park v Southend

Fifth placed Westcombe Park entertain seventh placed Southend at Goddington Dene knowing a win could see them rise to fourth place with Rosslyn Park facing a tough away match at Bridgwater & Albion.

Combe lost for the first time in four matches last Saturday when going down to a defeat at Rosslyn Park to drop three points behind Park in the table.

At Goddington Dene this season they have an excellent record with seven wins out of seven with only Rosslyn Park leaving with a win.

Southend after a great run up the table have slipped lately with four successive defeats. On the road they have picked up three wins and a draw in nine matches going down to five defeats.

Westcombe Park were narrow winners at Southend a few weeks ago coming through to win 34-30.

PREDICTION: Combe to win by eight at Goddington Dene over Southend.
