Community Rugby Coach Vacancy at the RFU

Community Rugby Coaches

Central London (Camden, Islington, Hackney, Tower Hamlets & City)

 Full time

Salary: £16,000 - £18,000 pa plus benefits and expenses

2 year contract (subject to funding)

In conjunction with our partners, we are looking to appoint a Community Rugby Coach to work in specific boroughs and with rugby clubs within London, starting in May 06, initially for a fixed term of 2 years. This scheme is managed by Sport England with the support of the Department for Culture Media and Sport. The London Active Partnership is implementing the scheme across the London region.

About the Job

  • To work with local rugby clubs and to aid their recruitment through strategic delivery in local schools and Colleges (both Further and Higher Education).
  • Work with local junior clubs to support their development through delivering coach education sessions and assisting the club to complete the RFU Seal of Approval.
  • To introduce leadership skills to young people and provide ongoing support and sustainability by delivering teacher and coach education.
  • To take a professional approach in the planning, preparation and organisation of coaching sessions.
  • To maintain a comprehensive schedule of coaching as established and administered by the RDO.

About You

  • Must be educated to a minimum of 'GCSE' standard preferably with at least five GCSEs at grade C or above.
  • Will have experience of coaching children and young people.
  • Should hold an RFU coaching qualification (Minimum Level 2) and current driving licence.
  • Should have a good knowledge and understanding of the game and the operation of junior rugby within Middlesex. 
  • Must be a confident and effective communicator and have the ability to motivate yourself and others, as well as working effectively as a team member.
