Terrace Talk - National Three South

Cambridge v North Walsham

A championship decider at Grantchester Road as leaders Cambridge take on second placed North Walsham looking to extend their lead of four points.

Cambridge are the form side in the division and not lost since they were beat by North Walsham last year. At home they are unbeaten winning all 11 matches giving up just two losing bonus points.

North Walsham are just four points adrift of Cambridge despite losing two more matches than there rivals because they have picked up 15 bonus points against 11 by Cambridge.

On the road they have been very patchy this season suffering four defeats in ten matches.

When the sides met at Scottow earlier in the season North Walsham took the points with a 13-3 win.

PREDICTION: Got to go with Cambridge to maintain their unbeaten home record with six point win.

Old Patesians v Lydney

Fourth placed Lydney will be looking to return to winning ways as they travel to 12th placed Old Patesians this Saturday.

Old Patesians are still eight points from safety after they and Cinderford both lost last weekend away and failed to pick up a bonus point.

At Everest Road this season they have already played 11 matches and managed to pick up four victories.

Lydney were beaten at home last Saturday by second placed North Walsham just their second home defeat of the season and their second successive defeat, although they were to the top two sides in the division.

On the road they have won four and drawn one of their 10 matches to date.

When the sides met at Regentsholme earlier in the season Lydney ran out 34-10 winners.

Prediction: Lydney to win at Everest Road by 12 points.

Reading v Hertford

Must win game for 13th placed Reading as they entertain 10th placed Hertford and look to close the gap on the sides in the safety zone.

Reading are bottom of the Form Guide with six defeats in a row and need to stem that ruin to have any chance of getting out of the bottom three with a win this week. At home they have won five out of 10 but after this match their remaining two matches at home are against the top two Cambridge and North Walsham.

Hertford are also at the wrong end of the Form Guide with just one win in their last six matches when they returned to winning ways last weekend with a 29-8 home win over Old Patesians.

On the road they have a reasonable record with five wins in their ten road trips.

When the sides met at Hertford earlier in the season the home side came out on top winning 21-10.

PREDICTION: Tough call this one but will go with Reading by four points.

Rosslyn Park v Havant

Third placed Rosslyn Park are at home this Saturday to eighth placed Havant looking to return to winning ways.

Park were beaten last week for the first time in six matches despite holding a 22-10 lead at one stage in the second half at Dings Crusaders but stayed in third place.

At home this season they have a good record with just one defeat in nine wins and just leaders Cambridge leaving with a win.

Havant ended a three match losing run last Saturday with a 25-18 home win over Reading but remained in eighth place and are still six points of seventh placed Bridgwater & Albion.

On the road this season they have managed to win just once in ten matches with a victory at Hertford. They have picked up seven losing bonus points in those nine defeats!

When the sides met earlier in the season it was a low scoring closely fought affair with Havant just edging it, 13-11.

PREDICTION: Park to win by seven points.

Bridgwater v Westcombe Park

Seventh placed Bridgwater & Albion entertain sixth placed Westcombe Park knowing a win would see them move above Combe in the table and Southend into fifth place.

Bridgwater & Albion returned to winning ways last Saturday with a thumping 71-0 win in their South West derby against Cinderford after back to back defeats.

It was their fifth home win in nine matches this season and the second time they had topped the 50 point mark in a match this season.

Westcombe Park ran leaders Cambridge close last week going down in the end to a 74th minute try. That left them just two points ahead of Bridgwater in the table and a defeat here would see them drop a place in the table to seventh.

On the road this season they have

They do not have the best of records on the road with just four wins in ten matches although last time they were in the South West they were comfortable winners at Cinderford 42-0.

This is the first meeting of the season between the two sides.

PREDICTION: Tough call but go home win by eight points.
