A Comprehensive away win for Bedford Blues at Sharmans Cross Road against the Pertemps Bees running in 10 tries.
It was the Bees who scored first and with Ben Harvey putting over a couple of penalty goals they were 6-0 ahead after six minutes. After that though the Blues dominated the scoring and at half time lead 26-13 with the four try bonus point in the bag with No 8 Shaun Brady bagging a double.
They went on to score six more tries in the second half as the backs and forwards ended the day with five tries apiece. Ali Hepher ended the match with 18 points as he converted nine of the ten tries.
Coventry 45 (Tries: Stewart, Tiueti, Protherough, Rheeders. Cons: Moore 2. Pens Moore 7.).
Newbury 29 (Tries: Bingham, Smaje, Cooper, Cracknell. Cons: Feeney 3. Pen: Feeney.).
Each side scored four tries in this match but James Moore punished the ill discipline of Newbury with six successful penalty kicks in a 25 point haul with the boot to move to the top of the scoring list in the division.
Moore kicked the home side into a 6-0 lead in the opening six minutes. Newbury were over the home try line a minute later with wing Kenny Bingham touching down, Blair Feeney converted and added a penalty goal in the 13th minute to make it 10-6.
By half time both sides ran in two tries each with Newbury going in at the break with a slender 22-21 lead.
Three penalties in the third quarter by Moore made it 30-22 on the hour mark for Coventry. They went even further clear on 62 minutes when lock Hendry Rheeders went over, Moore missed the conversion but slotted over his seventh penalty goal on 69 minutes to make it 38-22.
They secured the try bonus point on 75 minutes when hooker Richard Protherough touched down and Moore converted.
Newbury also got the four try bonus point when Chris Cracknell touched down for his 10th try of the season.
Doncaster 30 (Tries: Van Vuuren, Montague, Cannon. Cons: Liley 3. Pens: Liley 3.).
London Welsh 11 (Try: Bidwell. Pens: Morgan 2.).
Doncaster are out of the bottom two after this home win over an in form London Welsh side.
They got off to a great start with two tries in the opening 12 minutes to go 14-0 ahead as wing Donovan Van Vuuren and No 8 Dan Montague touched down and Rob Liley converted them both. Liley added a penalty goal on 22 minutes to make it 17-0 before a couple of penalty goals from Gareth Morgan got the Welsh off the mark and sent them in a half time 11 points down, 17-6.
Liley got a couple of penalties in the third quarter to help his side go into a 23-6 lead before they got their third try as centre John Cannon went over and Liley added the extras to make it 30-6.
The Welsh did manage a late consolation try with replacement centre Adam Bidwell going over in the 75th minute.
NEC Harlequins 50 (Tries: So’oialo, Williams, Jarvis, Diprose, Harder, Easter, Keogh. Cons: Jarvis 5, Mehrtens. Pen: Jarvis.).
Earth Titans 10 (Try: WP Strauss. Con: Whitehead. Pen: Whitehead.).
Another regulation home win for Harlequins with a seven try display against the Earth Titans in front of a 7823 crowd to maintain their 13 point lead at the top of the table.
Michael Whitehead kicked the visitors ahead with a 2nd minute penalty goal.
Adrian Jarvis levelled in the 13th minute before Quins went ahead in the 17th minute when scrum half Stephen So’oialo went over and Jarvis converted.
Full back Tom Williams went over for Quins two minutes later and Jarvis again converted to make it 17-3.
The Titans did manage to cross the home line when centre WP Strauss went over on 24 minutes and Whitehead converted. Just before the break though the home side went 24-10 ahead with Jarvis going in for a try and adding the conversion.
They secured the four try bonus point six minutes into the second half with No 8 Tony Diprose going in and Jarvis again converted.
They went on to score three more tries including one from wing Simon Keogh his 14th of the season.
Nottingham 49 (Tries: Wyles, Duffy, Bowley, Thompson 2, Woodrow. Cons: Stenhouse4, Woodrow. Pens: Stenhouse 3.).
Exeter Chiefs 34 (Tries: Fatialofa 2, Penalty try, Bentley. Cons: Staniforth 4. Pens: Staniforth 2.).
Nottingham move to within a point of sixth placed Exeter Chiefs after this impressive home win over the Chiefs running in six tries.
At the end of the first 40 minutes they were 27-20 ahead with three tries from centre Chris Wyles, hooker Joe Duffy and flanker William Bowley, Neil Stenhouse had a good half with the boot, converting all three tries and kicking a couple of penalty goals. For the Chiefs Adam Staniforth kicked 10 points with the boot and they got tries from centre Aliafatu Fatialofa and a penalty try late in the half.
Stenhouse kicked a third penalty goal on 50 minutes before a brace of tries form full back Ben Thompson saw the home side go into a 42-20 lead.
The Chiefs did manage two more tries to at least secure the four try bonus point but the win was Nottingham.
Otley 15 (Tries: Kitching, Luffman, Wring.).
Plymouth Albion 14 (Try: Schusterman. Pens: Defty 3.).
Nick Defty gave the visitors the lead in the 4th minute with a penalty goal but it only last three minutes before Otley full back Robin Kitching went over for the games first try and Otley were 5-3 ahead.
The visitors regained the lead on 2 minutes when flanker Martin Schusterman went over for a try and an 8-5 lead. Defty added a couple of penalties in the second quarter and the Albion went in 14-5 ahead.
On the hour mark Otley got a second try with hooker Mark Luffman crossing the Plymouth try line to make it 14-10.
The winning score came on 80 minutes when prop Justin Wring went over for a try and a narrow one point win to move them up to ninth place in the table.
Sedgley Park 31 (Tries: Skurr, Anania, Jones, Senior. Cons: Jones 4. Pen: Jones.).
Cornish Pirates 21 (Tries: K James 2, Jess. Cons: Barlow, Jarvis 2.).
Excellent home win for Sedgley Park who are now six points form third bottom Doncaster.
Park made a great start and were 17-0 ahead after 17 minutes with touchdowns from second row Jon Skurr and No 8 Sam Anania with Phil Jones converting them both after giving the home side the lead with a 3rd minute penalty goal.
The Pirates stopped the home scoring with a try of their own on 24 minutes with winger Matt Jess touching down and Tom Barlow converted.
Park though continued with two more tries before half time to go in 31-7 ahead and the four try bonus point in the bag with Jones getting a try and flanker Richard Senior getting the fifth score. In the second half the Pirates got the only scores with a double from centre Kevin James in the 66th and 69th minutes and both were converted by Lee Jarvis but it was Park who took the win and the five points. |
