Esher closed the gap on second placed Waterloo by a point to six points after they took all five points on offer and Waterloo missed out on the four try bonus point.
It was the visitors who had the better of the first quarter and led 12-5 after tries form wing Alistair Bressington and centre Cameron Mitchell whilst scrum half Graham Barr went in for the home side.
In a seven minute spell before the break the home side turned it round with a double form winger Matt Moore, to take him to 22 for the season, Neil Hallett added a conversion and a penalty goal and Esher were 20-12 ahead at the break.
Both sides scored a try in the opening seven minutes of the second half but two Esher tries in a five minute spell just after the hour mark saw them pull clear at 37-17 with centre Chris Yates and prop Tom Warren touching down.
Harrogate 19 (Tries: Maifea, Tapster, Penalty try. Chester 2.).

Harrogate will have been disappointed to have got a win here as with Orrell winning they are only five points ahead of the bottom side.
The home side were 7-0 ahead after 12 minutes with a try from No 8 Maifea Maifea and Mark Chester converted. Manchester drew level on half time wit a try from flanker Matthew McKenzie and Andre Wilson converted.
They went in front 10 minutes into the second half with centre James Dalton going over and Wilson again converted for 14-7.
Harrogate responded well with a 54th minute try from left wing James Tapster and they took the lead when they were awarded a penalty try in the 58th minute and Chester converted to make it 19-14.
Manchester were level in the 61st minute when winger Selorm Kuadey went over but Wilson could not convert and that was the final score of the match and it was honours even.
Henley Hawks 10 (Try: Archer. Con: Burton. Pen: Burton.).
Moseley 28 (Tries: Bayliss, Evans, Colvin 2. Con: Thomas. Pens: Thomas 2.).
Another win for Moseley as they again pick up a four try bonus point and go five points clear at the top of the table.
The home side went ahead in the 2nd minute when Mitch Burton slotted over a penalty goal. Ollie Thomas kicked the home side in front with penalty goals in the 15th and 30th minutes.
Deep into first time injury time they got the first try of the match with prop Neil Bayliss going over for an unconverted try and an 11-3 half time lead.
Back row forward Mark Evans got the second try six minutes into the second half and with Thomas converting they went 18-3 ahead.
A double from winger Carl Colvin in the 61st and 75th minutes secured the bonus point.
The home side did manage the final score with No 8 David Archer going over and Burton converted.
Orrell 22 (Try: Spragg. Con: Mason. Pens: Mason 5.).
Halifax 18 (Tries: Solomi, Afoa Paterson, Mortimer. Pen: Eaton.).
Orrell made it back to back wins with this home win over Halifax and are now five points adrift of second bottom Harrogate who drew at home to Manchester.
They were quick out of the blocks and were 10-0 ahead in the opening four minutes with a try from their leading try scorer, winger Warren Spragg, which Simon Mason converted having put them ahead with a 2nd minute penalty goal.
Mason added a second penalty goal before Halifax got on the scoreboard with a 25th minute try from flanker Daniel Solomi.
Mason added a couple of penalties before the half time whistle but in between the Halifax No 8 Robert Afoa Peterson went in for a try and Orrell led 19-10 at the break.
Tom Eaton kicked a penalty goal for the visitors 15 minutes into the second half and when hooker Carl Mortimer went over for a try in the 70th minute it was a one point game 19-18.
It was Mason though who rounded off the win with a fifth penalty goal in the 74th minute.

In front of a bumper crowd of 1759 it was honours even in the end in this Cornish derby.
The visitors were ahead in the 10th minute when centre Marc Sweeney touched down and Stuart Alred added the extras.
Before half time Alred added a penalty goal and Launceston went in 10-0 ahead.
Redruth were off the mark when Lewis Vinnicombe, playing full back, went in for his 12th try of the season in the 52nd minute.
They drew level in the 80th minute when Vinnicombe got his 13th try of the season and they could not convert it to sneak the win.

Waterloo got the win but failed to pick up the four try bonus point and saw Esher close the gap to six points and they still have to go down to Esher on the 1st April. .
Waterloo were first on the scoreboard when Steven Nutt put over a 4th minute penalty goal. They went 10-0 ahead in the 18th minute when flanker Dan Smith went over and Nutt converted.
Pilat Corrado got a couple of penalty goals for the visitors to make it 10-6 but just before the break Waterloo went 17-6 ahead with prop Martin O’Keefe touching down and Nutt again converted.
O’Keefe completed a double in the 61st minute and Nutt again converted to make it 24-6. Nutt rounded off the win with a penalty goal in the 69th minute.
Wharfedale 30 (Tries: Malherbe, Bedworth, Hodgson. Cons: Bedworth 3. Pens: Bedworth 3.).
Blackheath 17 (Tries: Neale, Sampson. Cons: Neale 2. Pen: Neale.).
Comfortable home win for Wharfedale at Threshfields over Blackheath to go into sixth place in the table.
It was the visitors who took the lead with full back Frankie Neale going in for a try on 11 minutes and he also added the extras for 7-0.
Mark Bedworth got the home side off the mark with a penalty goal three minutes later and took the lead in the 17th minute when centre Chris Malherbe went over and Bedworth converted. Bedworth added a second penalty goal in the 28th minute but Neale replied for the visitors.
With half time approaching the home side got a second try as Bedworth touched down converted and saw his side go in 20-10 ahead at the break.
Just after the hour mark Wharfedale pulled further away with left wing Andrew Hodgson touching down and Bedworth converted and added a penalty goal a few minutes later to make it 30-10.
Blackheath did manage a second try late in the game with right wing Paul Samson going over and Neale again converting.
