In at the Corner - National Three North

Hull Ionians 22 (Try: D Hague. Con: Boyd. Pens: Boyd 5.). 

Cleckheaton 28 (Tries: Hamilton, Billington, Rushforth. Cons: Quinn 2. Pens: Quinn  3.). 

Excellent away win for Cleckheaton out scoring the home side three tries too one.

In the first half hour Glen Boyd and Chris Quinn exchanged a couple of penalties each for 6 all. In the 33rd minute Lance Hamilton went over for the games first try and but by half time Ionians were back in front with two more Boyd penalty goals for a 12-11 lead.

Two tries in the third quarter saw the visitors move into a 25-12 lead with backs James Rushforth and Mark Billington touching down and Quinn converted both.

Back came the home side with replacement back row Dan Hague going over for a try, Boyd converted and added a penalty goal and they trailed 25-22 with 12 minutes left.

It was Quinn though who got the next score with his third penalty goal and the win was theirs.    

 

Kendal 22 (Tries: L Ladell, Park, Bibby. Cons: Park 2. Pen: Park.). 

Fylde 22 (Try: Royle. Con: Scott. Pens: Scott 5.). 

Kendall finally picked up their first points of the season after a draw at Mint Bridge against Fylde. They will be kicking themselves for not winning the match after going into a 22-3 lead after 29 minutes. There were tries form full back Chris Park, wing Luke Ladell and centre Dennis Bibby whilst Park added a couple of  conversions and a penalty goal.  

Mike Scott was the Fylde saviour with 17 points from the boot, in the second half he added four more penalty goals to his first half effort and converted a try from in form winger Nick Royle.

 

Leicester Lions 17 (Tries: Pain, Evans. Cons: Yuill 2. Pen: Mitchell.). 

Macclesfield 17 (Try: Allen. Pens: Winney). 

Honours even at Westleigh Park which with Cleckheaton and Darlington Mowden Park winning was not a good result for either side.  

Macclesfield went into the half time break 9-3 ahead thanks to three Ross Winney penalty goals whilst Allan Mitchell replied for the home side.

Early in the second half Winney made it 12-3 but in the 53rd minute the Lions were right back in it with flanker Ben Pain going in for a try and Dan Yuill, a half time replacement , converting.

Macclesfield went 17-10 ahead just after the hour mark when hooker Peter Allan went over for an unconverted try.

The Lions levelled when No 8 Damian Evans went over and Yuill again converted in the final score of the match.

 

New Brighton 10 (Try: Tuipulotu. Con: Dean. Pen: Dean.). 

Darlington Mowden Park 29 (Tries: Foreman 2, Breen, Visser. Cons: Mellalieu 3. Pen: Mellalieu.). 

DMP continued their good recent run with an away win at New Brighton.

New Brighton were first on the scoreboard when Stephen Dean put over a 6th minute penalty goal.

DMP were level when Anthony Mellalieu slotted over a penalty goal and when he converted a try from scrum half Andrew Foreman they visitors were 10-3 ahead.

In the second half the visitors pulled away with tries from left wing Michael Breen and scrum half Foreman got a second and Mellalieu converted both to make it 24-3.

Both sides scored a try in the final few minutes with DMP claiming the bonus point. For New Brighton No 8 Kati Tuipulotu went in for his 13th try of the season.    

 

Nuneaton 17 (Tries: Stimpson, Parry. Cons: Cull 2. Pen: Cull.). 

Blaydon 7 (Try: Hall. Con: Windle.). 

Nuneaton got their season back on track with this home success over second placed Blaydon and are now just two points behind them with two games in hand. .

It was Blaydon who took the lead with hooker Matt Hall went over in the 9th minute and Richard Windle, playing on the wing, converted.

Before half time Nuneaton had pulled three points back with Gareth Cull, on his return from injury, putting over a penalty goal.

It was not till the 70th minute that Nuneaton took the lead when full back Tim Stimpson went in for a try and Cull converted for 10-7.

They sealed the win in the 78th minute when winger Lee Parry touched down and Cull again converted and Blaydon failed to pick up a losing bonus point.

  

Preston Grasshoppers 27 (Tries: Morton, Dewhurst, McKenna, Cramont. Cons: Worsley 2. Pen: Worsley.). 

Tynedale 24 (Tries: Harrison, Duncan, J Rastall, Massey. Cons: Belgian 2.). 

Preston Grasshoppers move above Tynedale in the table after this home win.

Tynedale full back Jack Harrison gave his side the lead in the 10th minute when he went over for a try and Phil Belgian converted for 7-0.

Simon Worsley pulled three points back for the home side with a 20th minute penalty goal. They went in front six minutes later with No 8 Richard Morton touching down and Worsley converted.  With full back Owen McKenna and flanker Glynn Dewhurst touching down and Worsley added a conversion to make it 22-7. Just before half time Tynedale got a second try with centre Ben Duncan touching down, Belgian converted and they went in 22-14 down.

In the second half Tynedale got the first score with a try on the hour mark when right wing James Rastall touched down and they were just three points adrift with 20 minutes to go.

They took the lead in the 78th minute when fly half Will Massey went over and they were 24-22 ahead. Hoppers though snatched the win on 80 minutes when second row Anton Cramont went over to give his side all five points whilst Tynedale had to settle for two.
