In at the Corner - National Two

Barking 8 (Try: Liebenberg. Pen: Pilat.). 

Halifax 28 (Tries: Blades, Mitchell. Cons: Canning. Pens: Canning 4.). 

Halifax continue their good run with this away win at Barking.     

In the first half full back Aaron Canning kicked the visitors into a 9-5 half time lead with three penalty goals whilst prop Len Liebenberg went over for a try for Barking.

Four minutes into the second half and prop Adam Blades went over for Halifax and Canning converted to make it 16-5. Corrado Pilat and Canning exchanged penalty goals before Halifax rounded of the win with a second try as replacement Ben Mitchell went over in the 77th minute.

 

Blackheath 28 (Tries: Sampson 2, Webber. Cons: Neale 2. Pens: Neale 3.). 

Esher 19 (Try: Butterworth. Con: Hallett. Pens: Hallett 4.). 

Esher chances of catching second placed Waterloo suffered a massive set back with this away defeat at Blackheath   

The home side were over the Esher try line in the sixth minute when left wing Paul Sampson went in for a try and Frankie Neale converted before making it 10-0 in the 17th minute.

Neil Hallett, with two, and Neale exchanged penalty goals before Sampson went in for his second try on 33 minutes and the home side went in 18-6 ahead.

Esher got right back in it when Hallett kicked a third penalty goal and then converted a 53rd minute try from second row Mark Butterworth to make it 18-16.

Blackheath though were next to score when hooker Rob Webber went over in the 65th minute and with Neale converting they were 25-16 ahead.

Hallett and Neale exchanged penalty goals in the final 10 minutes as the home side took an excellent win.

 

Launceston 6 (Pens: Alred 2.). 

Henley Hawks 3 (Pen: Burton.). 

Launceston consolidated their fourth place in the table with a narrow home win over Henley Hawks.     

Launceston were first on the scoreboard but they had to wait till the 39th minute for Stuart Alred to put over his second penalty goal of the afternoon after missing his first attempt to give the home side a 3-0 half time lead.

Three minutes into the second half and Mitch Burton levelled with a penalty for the Hawks.

The winning score came in the 74th minute with Alred slotting over his third attempt of the match for a narrow win in this low scoring game. .

 

Manchester 13 (Try: Dalton. Con: Wilson. Pens: Wilson 2.). 

Redruth 7 (Try: Bonds. Con: Churcher.). 

Manchester closed to within a point of Redruth after this home win with all the scoring coming in the opening 31 minutes.     

Andre Wilson put the home side ahead with a 5th minute penalty goal and when he converted a try from centre James Dalton on 20 minutes Manchester were 10-0 ahead. Wilson kicked a second penalty goal on the half hour mark to make it 13-0.

Redruth responded immediately when full back Craig Bonds went over and Marek Churcher converted.

That proved to be the final score of the match with the second half scoreless.

 

Moseley 46 (Tries: Evans 2, Rodwell, Bressington, Caves 2. Cons: McDonald 4. Pen: McDonald.). 

Orrell 7 (Try: Briers. Con: Mason.). 

Moseley just keep on winning and picking up the points with this comfortable home win over bottom of the table Orrell who are now nine points from safety.     

Two tries in the opening quarter form the back row pair of Mark Evans and James Rodwell saw the home side go into a 12-0 lead with Greg McDonald slotting over one conversion.

He added a penalty goal and when he converted a try from hooker Dean Bick in the 28th minute Moseley were 22-0 ahead.

Orrell did manage to cross the home line before half time with centre Chris Briers touching down and Simon Mason converting.

15 minutes into the second half and the four try bonus point was safe with right wing Nathan Bressington touching down and McDonald converting.

Replacement hooker Adam Caves helped himself to a brace of tries and Evans sealed the win with his second in the final few minutes.

 

Stourbridge 13 (Try: Freeman. Con: Bressington. Pens: Bressington 2.). 

Harrogate 30 (Tries: Maifea, Parsons, Smithies. Cons: Chester, Aspinall 2. Pens: Chester, Aspinall. DG: Wainwright.). 

Harrogate picked up an excellent away win to move nine points clear of bottom of the table Orrell with four matches remaining     

Harrogate went ahead in the 3rd minute when Mark Chester put over a penalty goal. They went 10-0 ahead eight minutes later when No 8 Maifea Maifea went over for a try and Chester converted.

Sturbridge responded three minutes later when wing Martin Freeman went in for a try and Ali Bressington slotted over the conversion. Bressington then added a couple of penalty goals and the home side went 13-10 ahead after 35 minutes and took that lead into the half time break.

All the scoring came from Harrogate in the second half with Nick Wainwright levelling it after 56 minutes with a drop goal.

From there on in it was all Harrogate on the scoreboard. Michael Aspinall put over a penalty goal to give them the lead and then there were tries form right wing Stephen Parsons and full back Ed Smithies both converted by Aspinall.

 

Waterloo 32 (Tries: Tyms, Blyth, Nutt, Hunter, White, Payne. Con: Hunter.). 

Wharfedale 8 (Try: Malherbe. Pen: Bedworth.). 

Waterloo picked up all five points in this win over Wharfedale but more importantly they opened up an 11 point gap on third placed Esher who were beaten at Blackheath.

It took the home side 28 minutes to break the deadlock with a try form hooker Chris Tyms and wing Neil Hunter converted for 7-0. By half time they had pulled away into a comfortable 17-0 lead with further tries form No 8 David Blyth and full back Stephen Nutt.

Mark Bedworth pulled back a penalty goal for the visitors just after the break but in the 45th minute Waterloo had the all important four try bonus point with Hunter going over to make it 22-3.

Centre Chris Malherbe did manage a score for Wharfedale but the home side scored to more tries to run out comfortable winners.
